Some room of our own

There are so many voices in our lives urging us to

be faster

do more

be productive

get more degrees

get a higher paying job

and make more money.

But where are the reminders we all need to sit still and feel the sun on our cheeks or to grab our child’s hand and really look into her eyes and realize she will soon grow up?  Where are the voices telling us to love ourselves just as we are and relish the peaks and valleys that exist in our lives?

Who is telling us to breathe deeply into the space between our racing thoughts and SHOW UP for our life as it happens?

1-IMG_0329Often, Matt and I ask ourselves why we blog. I believe that one of the reasons is to share our struggle with our own tendency to rush past our lives in search of something more important that needs doing RIGHT NOW!  We hope that in sharing the intimate moments of our lives, we can serve as a voice, among many, to remind ourselves and our readers of the simple magic in life- the miracle of presence and breath. To give ourselves permission to love and live despite times of feeling not good enough or unlovable. We are re-learning that when we take space in silence for ourselves we can interrupt the constant fearful chatter

I’ll never be able to do that- it ‘ll never work out

and replace it with a brighter, more expansive

this will probably work out- I just don’t know how yet.

In being present we give ourselves room to flourish.

Lori - Such a wonderful reminder to pass on, and to reclaim over and over for ourselves. I thought of this just today– there is no moment more important than this one. Maybe it spoke in the silence between drops of rain this afternoon.ReplyCancel
