South Carolina Permaculture

south carolina permacultureThis March, with our inspiring colleagues, Nick Tittle and Mari Stuart, Matt and I are changing the landscape of South Carolina Permaculture forever!  They will teach a traditional 72 hour Permaculture Design Certificate Course in a weekend format for the first time ever in Columbia, SC.  I am their humble organizer. We will truly work together to make a long- held dream of bringing a PDC to Columbia come true. We have an amazing team of facilitators, some great site visits, a promising venue.

Now, we just need you.

What is permaculture?

Permaculture is a life-affirming design strategy that mimics nature in order to create human habitats that have the stability, productivity and resilience of a natural ecosystem. It has been described as a “revolution disguised as gardening” that starts in your backyard and expands to have global implications. It provides a set of powerful tools and common-sense solutions to meet human needs in a way that is regenerative to ecosystems.

Permaculture is not just about organic gardening and catching rainwater. It is also a balm for the weary activists’ heart. For all of you who work tirelessly day in and out for change and sometimes feel that your efforts are in vain, permaculture can be the ray of hope that makes all the difference in the world. It provides us with a solution- oriented comprehensive framework to make effective change both in our personal lives and communities.
